NEWTON -- Bernard “Butch” G. Kuiken Jr., 69, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013, at Preakness Healthcare Center in Wayne.

Born in Paterson on June 20, 1943, to the late Jessie Metzler and BernardG. Kuiken Sr., Butch had lived in Vernon before moving to Newton.

He had served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.

Butch was predeceased by two brothers, Steven Kuiken in 1989 and Charles Kuiken in 2000. He is survived by his former wife, Laurie Kuiken of Pompton Lakes; his two daughters, Donna Kuiken Ezzo of Vernon and Dawn Heimall of Pompton Lakes; three brothers, William Kuiken of Warwick, N.Y., John Kuiken of Totowa and Edward Kuiken of Bradenton, Fla.; three sisters, Carol Macaluso of Sarasota, Fla., Lorraine “Dee” Walsworth of Oklahoma and Maryanne Guendjoian of Sarasota, Fla.; and his six grandchildren, Savannah, Cheyenna and Hunter Heimall, and Jake, Zach and Cassidy Ezzo.

Friends may pay their respects to the family Monday, from 3 to 4 p.m. at the Pinkel Funeral Home, 31 Bank St. (Route 23), Sussex. Military services will immediately follow at 4 p.m. at the funeral home. Online condolences may be offered to the family on www.pinkelfuneralhome.com.
