HAMPTON, Ga. - Chief Warrant Officer 3 USN Retired Lester E. "Bing" Stormes, 70, of Hampton, Ga., passed away March 1, 2013, in his home with his loving wife and family by his side.

He was born July 4, 1942, in Sussex, N.J., where he graduated from Sussex High School. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1960 and served more than 21 years with Naval Intelligence and later was responsible for Navy Recruitment activities in the northeast region in Iselin, N.J.

During his military career, he was awarded two letters of commendation, one for efforts in "Operation Homecoming," three Medals of Honor, a Meritorious Unit Commendation, and a Good Conduct Award. Overseas deployments included Morocco, Scotland, Guantanamo Bay (Cuba), Philippines and Japan.

After retiring from the Navy, he was employed by Ultimate Computer Services in Rockaway, N.J., which was acquired by TRW. While employed for TRW, he relocated to Southern California to locate and open up a West Coast facility. In 1987, he accepted employment at Finalco Leasing Company in Virginia and assisted with the company's relocation to Boca Raton, Fla. He was a founder and shareholder of Computer Products & Services. In 1995, he started his own computer company, Alternative Computer Products Corporation with his sons. In 2005, he retired to Georgia.

During the course of his life he enjoyed hunting, fishing, yard work, being at the beach, and spending time with family and friends. He was a man of strong character, integrity and honor with expert management and leadership skills while being a dedicated father with deep family ties.

He was preceded in death by his father, Lester B. Stormes; mother, Adelia Stormes; brother, Richard Stormes; sister, Edna "Snook" Stormes; and daughter, Kristen M. Stormes. He is survived by his devoted wife, Lynn; sons, Gregory Stormes and wife, Tina, of Wellington, Fla., and Darren Stormes and wife, Helen, of Griffin, Ga. He leaves behind 11 loving grandchildren, Christopher Stormes, Brian Stormes, Danielle Stormes, Amanda Stormes, Alexander Holzbach, Brittany Stormes, Brooke Holzbach, Alexandra Stormes, Mikayla Stormes, Helaina Stormes and Casey Holzbach; sister-in-law, Doreen Ayers, of New York City; sister, Maryann Stormes; and cherished nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at noon Wednesday, March 6, at Pinkel Funeral Home, 31 Bank St. (Route 23), Sussex. Interment will follow at North Hardyston Cemetery.
