NEWTON - Arthur DeGraaff, 83, of Wantage, died Wednesday, April 3, 2013, at Newton Medical Center.

Born in Glen Rock, Mr. DeGraaff was a longtime resident of Wantage. He was a United States Air Force veteran serving during the Korean War. A truck driver for more than 60 years, Mr. DeGraaff worked for Van Decker Brothers in Hamburg and Sam Braen & Son in Wyckoff before his retirement. He was an avid NASCAR fan and also loved cats.

The son of the late Nicholas and Effie (Faber) DeGraaff, Mr. DeGraaff is survived by his wife of 35 years, Ruth (Laube) DeGraaff; his children, Debra Jean DeGraaff and Barry Smith, of Greenwood Lake, N.Y., Diane Badaracco and husband, Al, of Hawthorne, Darlene Robinson and husband, J.R., of Butler, Alan Leyman of Texas, Jerry Leyman of Texas, Dawn Sheehan and husband, Greg, of Texas, Roy Leyman of Wantage, Joy Branford and husband, Glen, of Seneca Falls, N.Y.; his grandchildren, Justin, Kristen, Robyn, Ryan and Edward; his great-grandson, Hunter; his sisters, Ethel Roskopf and husband, Norman, of Totowa, and Dorothy Van Dyke and husband, David, of South Carolina; and many cats.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 6, at Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High St., Newton. Interment will follow in Newton Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday, April 5, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
