LORDS VALLEY, Pa. - Tom Wendel, of Lords Valley, Pa., died peacefully on April 10, 2013. Tom was the son of the late Dorothy and Dr. George Wendel. He grew up in the Chicago area, earned a Bachelor of Science from the University of Notre Dame and an MBA from the University of Michigan. Tom was a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy for six years and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He was an investment banker for international companies in New York and abroad with specialties in precious metals, finance, leasing, insurance, estate planning and charitable giving. He lived at Lake Mohawk, in Sparta, N.J., for 20 years before moving to Hemlock Farms in northeastern Pennsylvania seven years ago. Tom enjoyed boating on Lake Mohawk, learning about the history of the area, the cherished time with his sons and gatherings with friends/family. He was generous with his time and volunteered as the treasurer for the Sparta Historical Society, the vice president of the Northern New Jersey Estate Planning Council and the chairman of the Hemlock Farms Conservancy. He is survived by his wife, Ginny Malone; his sons, Ian and Geoffrey, and their wives, Shama and Chrissie, respectively; his granddaughter, Brynn; his sisters, Susan Witton, Mary Cox, and his brothers, James, Michael, John and Robert, and their families. There will be a memorial service for him at the Church at Hemlock Farms, 93 Willow Drive, Lords Valley, PA 18428 at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 11.
