TOMS RIVER - Robert Henry Eliasen, 71, of Toms River, passed away Jan. 24, 2013, after a long illness. He was born June 8, 1941, in Queens, N.Y., to Margaret (Lauchaire) and Henry Eliassen.

Bob graduated in 1962 from the State University of New York at Farmingdale with a degree in horticulture. Bob lived and worked in the Newton area for 35 years, before retiring to Toms River in 2010.

Following his graduation from college, he served in the United States Marine Corps Reserves. After his discharge from USMC, he worked for Eastman Kodak as a display technician until he moved to Millbrook, N.Y., in 1969 where he owned a small restaurant called "The Coffee Spot." After selling the restaurant, Bob took a job in sales, with the Ball Seed Company in New Jersey. From there he opened his own business, Eastern States Property Management Services. He performed loan servicing for banks and mortgage companies, from Virginia to Maine.

An avid hunter and fisherman, Bob spent many happy hours training his Labrador retrievers for Field Trials. He was a member of the Westchester Retriever Club. In later years he enjoyed bird watching at various nature preserves, like Hawk Mountain, Merrill Creek and the Jersey shore. He was an amateur photographer and frequently posted his captivating photos of birds, foxes and other wildlife at http://www.capturejerseyshore.com/, and similar sites.

Bob is survived by his significant other, Barbara Sibona; former spouse, Cathy Smiley; sister, Margie (Eliasen) and husband, Henry Lindauer; niece, Kathy (Lindauer) and husband, Daniel Miller; nephew, Donald Lindauer and wife, Laura. Close nephew, Kenneth Lindauer, predeceased his uncle.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate Bob's life at a memorial service, which will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, June 22, in the Chapel at Ocean County Cremation Services, 1252 Route 37 West, Toms River. A repast will follow.
