NEWTON - Robert B. Archer, 83, of Newton, died Monday, July 22, 2013, at home. Born in the Bronx, N.Y., Mr. Archer lived in Hopatcong before moving to Newton in 1995. He was a United States Army veteran, serving from 1952 to 1953. A dispatcher for the Federal Reserve Bank in New York City, Mr. Archer retired in 1982 after 30 years of service. The son of the late George Sinclair and Grace Baker Sinclair, Mr. Archer also was predeceased by his sister, Carol Mason. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Lucille J. Archer; four children, Marilyn Karpinski and James Denton of Port Richey, Fla., Robert Archer and his wife, Cecily, of Bangor, Pa., Laurie Archer and Bill Stoddard, of Newton, and Barbara Kimmich and her husband, Roland, of Newton; six grandchildren, Kim Andrews and her husband, Don, Jen Honig and her husband, Casey, Chris Goble, Mike Goble and his wife, Claire, Maria Francois and her husband, Donald, and Amanda Archer and her fiancé, Justin Trabalka; and six great-grandchildren, Dylan, Tyler, Samantha, Donald Jr., Daniel and Donnie IV. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 26, at Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High St., Newton. Interment will follow in the First Presbyterian Church Cemetery, 99 Main St., Succasunna. Visitation will be held Friday from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
