VERNON - Eberhard Otto Weller, 84, of Highland Lakes, passed away Sept. 27, 2013. Born Aug. 3, 1929, in Welzheim, Germany, he learned tool and die making (Journeyman), then studied mechanical engineering in Stuttgart and industrial engineering in Darmstadt before coming to the U.S.A. in December 1959. He had a successful career in consulting, frequently on international jobs allowing travel to Germany and Switzerland, while raising his family in Haworth and enjoying his summer home at Highland Lakes. After Eb retired in 1999, he enjoyed being at home in Highland Lakes, as well as traveling the world with his wife. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Barbara (Meyer); their three daughters with their families, Susan and Jim Swatek and children Matthew, Brian and Alex, of Hillsdale, Annette and Don Harkins and children Max and Anika of Eugene, Ore., and Tina and Bo Stevens and children Tucker, Cody and Kayla, of Windham, N.H.; as well as one brother, Walter, of Welzheim, Germany. A memorial service to celebrate Eb's life is planned for later in the year.
