SPARTA - William Francis Heimbuch, 89, of Sparta, passed away Wednesday, May 7, 2014. Much loved husband of Marjorie Heimbuch and her family Anne Moore and John D. Moore, of London, England. Loving husband of the late Jocelyn Heimbuch. Devoted father of Edmund P. Heimbuch, Jane R. Whetzel, Paul J. Heimbuch and Katherine M. Hammel. He loved and enjoyed his role as grandfather to David, Katharine, Jaime, Anna, Elizabeth, Rebecca and Will. Bill served in the U.S. Navy for three years during World War II in Hawaii as a radar specialist. He was awarded a degree as an electrical engineer by NJIT and a computer science degree by the University of Maryland. His career as a senior software engineering specialist took him to serve his country in many different locations at home and abroad, and he always found great satisfaction in his accomplishments. After many years of challenging work and different homes, Bill returned to New Jersey, where he grew up. In retirement he found joy in continuing his religious life as an usher in church; a mediator, CDRC, in the N.J. court system; and when possible singing with the High Point Harmonizers. Bill had a life of accomplishment and enjoyed solitude, music and his ability to contemplate the world scene. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, May 12, at Goble Funeral Home, 22 Main St., Sparta. A funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 13, at St. Jude The Apostle Church, 4-24 Beaver Run Road, Hamburg. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to St. Jude's Building Fund, PO Box 1, Hamburg, NJ 07419.
