Chace, Robert "Bob"*
CHACE Robert "Bob" Chace, 96, former city manager of Mason and Loveland, born March 29, 1920 and died at his Loveland farm on Sunday, Sept. 18, 2016, from natural causes. He was the loving husband of 64 years to Marian (nee Whited) Chace, father to daughter Susan A. Chace and son William A. (Blanca) Chace, step grandfather to Brian Baez and Evan Danziger, brother to Susan (Lew) Burnham and the late Benjamin, John, William and James Chace, and uncle to numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Chace loved people, ping pong at the Y and all things mechanical. He earned a degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Cincinnati in 1943 and immediately reported for duty in the U.S. Navy, where he served as a flight instructor during World War II. Service to neighbors and community continued to be a large part of his life. After working 13 years in his own engineering and general contracting business, he accepted a job as Mason's first village administrator in 1966. That led to jobs as city manager of Loveland, and then assistant sanitary engineer in Clermont County. He returned to Mason as city manager in 1973, in time to help the city through the aftermath of the April 1974 tornado and growth associated with construction of Kings Island Amusement Park. Mr. Chace was a member of the Mason Community Grange #1680, Masonic Lodge of Ohio, Sycamore Presbyterian Church, Sheppard Diesel Club and American Society of Metals. He also was associate member of the Warren County Soil and Water Conservation District. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, October 14, 2016, at the Tufts Schildmeyer Family Funeral Home, 129 N. Riverside Dr., Loveland. A memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 15, 2016, at Sycamore Presbyterian Church, 11800 Mason Road, Cincinnati, OH 45249. Friends may visit at 10 a.m. before the service and during a reception after. Mr. Chace donated his body to the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Hamilton Township Fire Rescue in Maineville, Ohio; Sycamore Presbyterian Church near Mason, Ohio; or the Ralph J. Stolle Countryside YMCA in Lebanon, Ohio. www.tuftsschildmeyer.com
