Donald H. Linnemann, 82, of Edgewood, passed away peacefully Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at St. Elizabeth Healthcare, Edgewood. He was a retired 4th generation owner of the former Henry Linnemann Sons Funeral Home in Covington, a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Army who spent his time after WWII in Garmisch, Germany, a 50 year former member of Summit Hill Country Club, life member of the Covington Jaycees, original member of the St. Pius School Board and Dixie Area Knothole Baseball Manager for St. Pius. Don was the son of the late Henry G. and Anna Walsh Linnemann and grew up at Ryland Lakes, where he developed his love of golf. He was junior golf champion in 1945 and was the winner of the Metropolitan Handicap Tournament in 1996. He was preceded in death after 57 years of marriage to his college sweetheart and true love, Carole Sue Zimmer Linnemann in 2011 and was also preceded in death by his dear son Timmy in 1967, his brother George "Bud" Linnemann in 1993 and his sister Mary Jane Luessen in 2001. Survivors include his children, Greg (Shannon) of Burlington, Gary (Jan) of Batavia, OH, Ken (Joanie) of Erlanger, Pat (Melinda) of New Richmond, OH, Mary Gayle (Dave) Barbeau of Maineville, OH, Jill (Terry) Shumate of Philadelphia, PA and Andy (Tina) of Edgewood, 25 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Don was a loving and gentle father and grandfather who is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Visitation 9 AM - 11 AM and Mass of Christian Burial 11 AM, Tuesday, May 28, 2013 all at St. Pius X Church, 348 Dudley Rd. Edgewood. Interment Mother of God Cemetery, Covington.
