Gene FLAUGHER(1930 - 2013)


Mr. Elbert "Gene" Flaugher, age 82, of Falmouth, KY, died on January 21, 2013, after an extended illness. He was born in Lenoxburg, KY to the late Louie and Mayme Thome Flaugher. He is survived by his wife, Joyce (Sullivan) Flaugher; son, Tim (Angie) Flaugher; daughter, Tammy (Dean) Ammerman; daughter, Jennifer Harper; son-in-law, Phillip (Margaret) Harper; grandchildren: Dawn (Jonathan) Thornberry, April (Jaime) Meadows, Barry (Monica) Ammerman, Cassandra (DJ) Jacobs, Justin and Olivia Flaugher; 11 great grandchildren; brother, Allen (MaeJo) Flaugher; sister, Mary Sue Courtney; sister-in-law, Carolyn Flaugher, and sister-in-law, Paula Flaugher. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers: Bob, Charlie, and Pete, and one grandson. Mr. Flaugher was a veteran of the US Army. In his career, he was the owner and operator of the Shell Service Station, a Milk Hauler, Assistant Supervisor of the KY State Highway Maintenance, Director of Prison Industries for the KY Department of Corrections, and Mayor of the City of Falmouth for 7 years. He also served on the Pendleton County Board of Education for 16 years. He was a member of the Falmouth Baptist Church and served in many positions. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 24, 2013, at the Falmouth Baptist Church, with Rev. Cohen Copley and Rev. George Naylor officiating. Remembrances will be shared by Marvin and Clay Sullivan. Cliff Wallace, Amy McKinney, and Karri Rider, will provide special music. Visitations will be held from 3-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 23, 2013, at the Woodhead Funeral Home, in Falmouth and on Thursday from 1-2:00 p.m. preceding the service at his church.. Interment will take place in the Riverside Cemetery, Falmouth, officiated by Dr. Bob Jackson.
