Joseph J. Kirst


Joseph John Kirst, 85, of Fort Thomas, passed away July 4, 2013 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Fort Thomas, KY. He was a vice-president with Doppes Lumber Co., Cincinnati, where he worked for over 50 years. Mr. Kirst was a member of the Cincinnati Lumberman's Association; St. Thomas Holy Name Society; assistant boy scout leader for Troop #70; a veteran of U.S. Coast Guard, Army & Navy; a member of the Christian Family Movement and past director of the St. Thomas Parish Picnic along with his wife, Joan. He was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Feltes. Mr. Kirst is survived by his wife Joan Rose Kirst (nee: Groeschen) of Fort Thomas, KY; daughters Jane (Greg) Brinkman of Fort Thomas, Ky., Judy (John) Guidugli of Hamilton, OH and Susan (Mark) Kahmann of Highland Hiehgts, KY; sons David Kirst of Ryland Heights, KY, Tim (Donna) Kirst of Butler, KY and Paul Kirst of Fort Thomas, KY; 16 Grandchildren and 10 Great Grandchildren; and his sisters Frances Kathman of Cleves, OH and Betty Macke of Cheviot, OH. Visitation Sunday, July 7, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Muehlenkamp-Erschell Fort Thomas Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 AM Monday, July 8, at the St. Thomas Church, Fort Thomas, Kentucky. Burial will take place in the St. Stephen Cemetery Fort Thomas, Kentucky.
