Mary "Rose" Requardt, 94 of Independence, went to be with the Lord Thursday, January 17, 2013 at St. Elizabeth Healthcare, Florence.
She was a homemaker, for many years she attended Calvary Baptist Church. Mary was an employee for many years at the old Latonia Bakery.
Survivors include daughters Laura Sullivan of Florence, Joyce Grimm of Latonia, and Ruth Perry of Independence; and her son Wayne E Rogers of Florence; 7 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren.
In school at Simon Kenton High School, she ran track and field and was the only girl to win against boys and received a trophy and pin.
After the death of her first husband Emerson Rogers in 1953, she married Henry (Hank) Rodgers in 1959, who later passed away in 1993. All her survivors now are from her marriage to Emerson Rogers.
In the 90's she was interviewed for a newspaper article about the Requardt dairy farm in Edgewood with the name of "Edgewood" written on the side of the wagons. The home stands today. The name "Edgewood" is believed to be named at that time as the farm was on the edge of the woods, and ran from Turkeyfoot to 3 L Highway. In Ft. Mitchell, Requardt Lane was named after the family.
Services Tuesday, January 22nd at SWINDLER & CURRIN FUNERAL HOME, LATONIA at the convenience of the family. Interment, Independence Cemetery.
