Sr. Mary Mildred Gohs, CDP, died on December 19, 2012 at Holy Family Home in Melbourne. She was 94 years of age and a professed member of the Congregation of Divine Providence for 69 years. Mildred was born in Dayton, KY and was the first of five daughters born to Edward and Lillian Gohs. Her parents and her four sisters preceded her in death. She is survived by nieces and nephews and her community of the Sisters of Divine Providence. Two of her nieces, Sr. Dolores Gohs and Sr. Paula Gohs are also Sisters of Divine Providence. Sr. Mildred entered the Congregation of Divine Providence in September of 1941, made first profession of vows in 1943 and professed her final vows in 1948. Her fifty-six years of ministry included thirty-five years as an elementary teacher and several years as a staff member in the Moye Retreat Center. Sr. Mildred delighted in the three years she had the privilege of ministering at the Instituto della Divina Providenza in Rome. She retired from active ministry in 1994 and continued to be in service at Holy Family Home. Visitation will be in Holy Family Chapel on Friday, December 21 beginning at 3:00 p.m. A Wake Service will be held at 3:30 and Mass of Christian burial will be at 4:00.
