Earl H., 94, of Taylor Mill, KY passed away at his residence on Saturday, February 1, 2014. He served in the Army and Airforce during WWII. Earl is a retired Union Carpenter from Local 2 where he was a life member, a member of Holy Cross Parish, and also a member of the former St. Aloysius Holy Name Society. His specialty was creating Fine Cabinetry and he enjoyed Photography. He is preceded in death by his Parents: Frank A. Gunkel and Della Teipel Gunkel; Brothers: Clifford Gunkel and Paul Gunkel and his Sister: Laverne Lysaght-Lamping and Granddaughter: Pamela Abner. Earl is survived by his Loving Wife: Ella Reynolds Gunkel; Sons: Gary Gunkel and Robert (Bonnie) Gunkel; Daughters: Beverly Abner and Jane Elliott; Brothers: Melvin (Mary Ellen) Gunkel and Frank (Rosemary) Gunkel; Grandchildren: Bridgette (Troy), Teresa, Macy, Jordyn and Jason and Great Grandchildren: Preston and Taylor. Visitation will be held at the Connley Brothers Funeral Home in Latonia, KY Tuesday, February 4, 2014 from 4:00 PM until Prayers at 7:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Cross Church, 3612 Church Street Covington (Latonia), KY 41015 Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Mother of God Cemetery in Fort Wright, KY where an Honor Guard Service will be held.
