Jack Combs Sr., 78, of Independence, KY, beloved husband and best friend of Jorine (Peaslack) Combs for 54 years, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 19, 2014 at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Ft Thomas, KY with his family by his side. He was Surrounded by the ones he laughed with, lived for, and loved. Jack was born in Newport, KY. He lived most of his life in Bellevue, KY, where he and his wife raised 4 sons. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who cherished time spend with his family. he was a dedicated splicer for 35 years, prior to his retirement from Cincinnati Bell. Jack was an avid and accomplished Bowler and was locally know for years on the bowling circuit as, "Gunner". His greatest achievement was a perfect score, of "300". Jack was an incredibly kind and gentle man weho also enjoyed horse races, traveling, the Kentucky Wildcats, and ice cream. Jack is survived by his beloved wife, Jorine (who he lovingly referred to as, "Babe".) and four loving sons; Jack Combs Jr., of Covington, KY; Jeff Combs (Jennifer) of Burlington, KY; Jim Combs (Kim) of Bethel, OH; John Combs (Beth) of Cincinnati, OH; and ten grandchildren, Justin (Samantha), Jeremy, Ashley, Austin, Alex, Brianna, Mason, Jade, Jake, and Bryson. Jack is also survived by two siblings; Beulah Jean Combs of Alachua, FL and Jim Combs (Cindy) of Dayton, OH. He was preceded in death by two sisters; Ruth Ziegler (Henry); and Fannie Lea Hamilton (Larry). He also leaves close and beloved family and friends. The family would like to express deep gratitude to the Doctors, Nurses, Respiratory Therapists, and other caregivers for their wonderful care. Visitation for Jack will be held at Dobbling Muehlenkamp Erschell Funeral Home in Bellevue, KY on Wednesday, January 22, 2014 from 4pm until 8pm. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at the funeral home in Bellevue, on Thursday, January 23, 2014 at 12 noon.
