Jerome "Jerry" Paul Kern, 78, of Murrells Inlet, SC, formerly of Ft. Wright, passed away on June 14, 2013 at Medical University Hospital in Charleston, SC. Jerry was born and raised in Bellevue, KY and graduated from Newport Catholic High School, lettering in baseball and basketball. He was owner of Jerome P. Kern and Associates working as a manufacturer's representative. Jerry was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church and long-time member of Summit Hills Country Club. He proudly served our country in the United States Army. Survivors include his wife, Joan Kern (Thompson) of Murrells Inlet, SC; son, Dr. Michael (Christi) Kern of Mt. Pleasant, SC; daughter, Linda (Alan) Barca of Grove City, OH; sister, Sr. Alice Marita Kern, SCN of Louisville, KY; grandchildren, Paul, Natalie, Andrew, Angela, Maribeth and many loving nieces and nephews. Stepchildren include Stephen Thompson (Sandy), Laurie Melchior (Gene), and Linda Gibson (Churchill). Jerry is remembered as a kind, loving, sports enthusiast, with a great sense of humor. Jerry was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Louise Kern (nee Vogt) (2007), brothers, James, Arthur, Augustus, and Thomas Kern; sisters, Grace Busse and Martha Oldiges. Visitation is Wednesday, June 19, 2013 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Ronald B. Jones Funeral Home, 316 Elm Street, Ludlow, KY with Mass of Christian Burial Thursday, June 20, 2013 at 10:00AM in Blessed Sacrament Church, 2409 Dixie Highway, Ft. Mitchell, KY. Interment in Mother of God Cemetery, Ft. Wright, KY.
