HEILMAN
Joal Reichel, 82, long time resident of Fort Thomas, passed away on July 19, 2012 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Fort Thomas, KY. Cause of death was heart and lung failure. Joal, named after uncles John and Albert, was born in Fort Thomas. Parents Harry and Ruth Reichel and sister Marian Sellers preceded her in death. She is survived by sister Jane Thompson of Fort Thomas as well as four children, fourteen grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren: Tom (Jan) Heilman of Fort Thomas, KY, Cristy (Mike) Scherer of Cincinnati, OH, Chuck (Judy) Heilman of Camp Springs, KY, Jodi (Kevin) Baxter of Fairview, NC. Grandchildren - Rick (Shannon) Heilman, Jeff (Natalie) Heilman, Rob (Billie) Heilman, Jay (Lori) Heilman, Julie (Josh) Berling, Victor, Jack & Sarah Scherer, Chip, Alex and Christina Heilman, Clair Baxter, Colleen (Ross) Jackson, Marie Baxter. Great-Grandchildren - Ellie, Samantha, Emily, Annie, Felicity, Jack, Abigail, Katherine and Owen .After graduating from Highlands High School, she attended the UC where she pledged Delta Delta Delta Sorority. Her education was completed at NKU. Joal worked at various positions in the tri-state area and later became a realtor in Florida. Joal was a civic-minded woman. As a past President of the Ruth Moyer PTA, she spearheaded programs to keep the fine arts in Fort Thomas schools, to focus awareness on the need for alternative education for all children, and presented ideas to advance local schools into the future. Her reach extended to Fort Thomas city committees and to Campbell County charities, too. She was a member of the Centennial Committee and a volunteer at the Beverly Hills Supper Club fire victims' morgue. A private family service will be held in the near future at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Fort Thomas. She will be remembered by the family for her intelligence as well as her independence. She made a lasting impression on her communities, family, friends, and anyone else who was lucky enough to make her acquaintance. We will miss her greatly.
