Margarita "Margie" Martinez (nee. de la Garza), 80, of Southgate, passed away on Thursday, February 13th at St. Elizabeth Medical Center - Edgewood. She was a homemaker and was very active in the Ft. Thomas community. In addition to spending time with her family, grandchildren and her prayer group, Margie volunteered at the St. Luke Hospital Gift Shop, Ft. Thomas, was a past active member of the St. Luke Auxiliary, and the Highland Country Club, currently active at the Campbell County YMCA, The Newport Elks Lodge No 273 and their Ladies Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by her son, Isaac Martinez; brothers, Francisco & Pedro de la Garza and sisters, Gertrudis Roman & Juanita Gomez. Margie is survived by her husband, Dr. Aureliano "Al" Martinez of Southgate; daughters, Rebeca "Becki" (David) Walker of Union, Lupita (Jim) Laber and Maria "Liza" (Tim Rechtin) Martinez of Ft. Thomas; 9 grandchildren, Elizabeth (Luiggi) Velazquez of Latonia, Robert (Mollie), Aaron (Kristin) and Rachel Fischer, all of Latonia; James Laber of Lexington, Madalyn Laber of Ft. Thomas and Michael Laber of Louisville, Brooke Schutte of Ft. Thomas and Blake Martinez of Ft. Thomas; 4 great grandchildren, Zara & Luka Velazquez and Lucia & Caroline Fischer; 3 brothers, Alfredo, Adan & Santos de la Garza and 2 sisters, Rebeca & Teresa de la Garza; many in-laws, nieces and nephews. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:30 p.m., Monday, February 17th at St. Catherine of Siena Church, Ft. Thomas. Memorials are suggested to St. Elizabeth Hospice, 483 S.
