Melvin B. Brauer, 94, of Ft. Wright, formerly of Ft. Thomas and Ft. Mitchell, died Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at his home. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was an avid golfer, tomato gardener and pinochle player. He was a great friend to many. He was a retired Credit manager for companies in Cincinnati. He was a member of Holy Spirit Church, Holy Spirit Breakfast Club, Erlanger Baptist Exercise Club and the Senior Center in Highland Heights. He was a WWII Marine Corp Veteran serving in Funafuti in the Marshall Islands. His first wife of 41 years, Kathryn (Kay) Humbert Brauer (1986); second wife of 11 years, Jean Sullivan Brauer (2004); son, Michael Brauer (1983); sisters, Helen Cate and May Roenker and brothers, Ed and Harold Brauer preceded him in death. He is survived by his daughters, Joan (Tom) Cook, Kathleen (Frank) Orosz, Mary (Vern) Brauer, Kathy (Hank) Wise, Karen (Mark) Braun and Lori (Mike) Sullivan; Grandchildren, Jennifer Cook, Matthew (Jenn) Brauer, Jonathan (Karen) Cook, Jessica (Mark) Becker, Jeffrey (Johana) Brauer, Deborah (Ted) Orosz and Sarah Orosz, Christopher, Alex and Caroline Wise, Austin and Hannah Braun and Alison Sullivan; Great-Grandchildren, Emily, Andrew and Rachel Cook, Caden, Eli & Alexis Brauer, Zadie & Willa Becker, Finn Robertson and Charlotte Kidwell; nieces and nephews. Visitation from 4pm until 8pm, Friday, July 12 at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Ft. Thomas. A Mass will be 9:30am, Saturday, July 13 at Holy Spirit Church, Newport with burial following at St. Stephen Cemetery, Ft. Thomas.
