EILERS

William A. "Bill" Eilers, 89 years old, passed away March 23, 2013, at Carmel Manor Nursing Home, Ft. Thomas, KY, from Parkinson's disease. For 64 years, he was the loving husband of Helen Elizabeth (nee Tubesing) Eilers; loving and caring father of Patricia A. Eilers (Mr. Jan Prickett) and Daniel A. (June) Eilers; loving grandfather to Dana M. (Eric) Henderson and William A. (Jessica) Eilers and three great grandchildren. Bill was a veteran of WW II having served as a master sergeant in the Army/Air Corps, working on airplane engines in Saipan and the Mariana Islands. He was a long-time member and usher at St. Henry Church, Erlanger. Working for over 40 years at National Distillers and Chemical Corporation in Carthage, Ohio, Bill retired in 1982. Perfecting his system for home grown tomatoes from his back yard, Bill loved to share the fruits of his labors with friends and relatives. He also grew a wide variety of roses, having one of the first purple rose bushes which are now widely popular. He and Helen loved vacationing in Florida and he enjoyed taking pictures of the sunset over the ocean. For many years, Bill and his wife organized annual family reunions open to all family members. Bill had a lifelong love and passion for baseball, both professional and non-professional. During Cincinnati Reds' baseball games, Bill was an avid scorekeeper and kept records of each game he attended. Bill personally pitched no-hit games in softball and also played first base. He later umpired softball games, and managed/coached little league teams. He was a former board member of the Northern KY Sports Hall of Fame. Bill also loved bowling and accomplished perfect 300 games during league competition. He was an avid walker and received t-shirt recognition for hundreds of miles walked at the Erlanger Baptist Church gym. A self-taught handy man, Bill could paint the house, repair cars, and fix plumbing and almost anything around the house. A lover of life and people, Bill enjoyed telling jokes and never met a stranger. He was a devoted family man who will be missed. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, March 27, 10:00 a.m. at St. Henry Church, Elsmere. Visitation will be Tuesday, from 5-8p.m. at MIDDENDORF-BULLOCK FUNERAL HOME, ERLANGER. Interment at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Erlanger. The family requests that memorials be sent to Carmel Manor Nursing Home, 100 Carmel Manor Road, Ft.
