Mary Ellen Tanner of Covington, KY died peacefully at home on Saturday, May 3, 2014. She was a singer her entire life, and sang with the Deke Moffett band when she was 12 years old. Mary Ellen was a member of "Them", "Joyride" and "Mixed Feelings" bands and opened for Steve Marin at the Playboy Clubs in Cincinnati and Chicago. She also sang on Nick Clooney TV show, and was a regular member of the Bob Braun TV show for 7 years. Mary Ellen also appeared with Bob Hope, Liberace, Paul Williams and George Burns among others. She sang many concerts with orchestras locally and elsewhere. For many years she sang in clubs with Lee Stolar, Dee Felice, Frank Vincent, John Von Ohlen, and many other multi-talented musicians. May Ellen also taught 11 years at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music's jazz department. Daughter of the late Robert W. Tanner and Lauretta Tanner- Hayes. Beloved sister of Barbara Tanner Begg, Ft. Mitchell; awesome aunt of Kristi Fowler of Ft. Myers, FL, Joy Allender of Ft. Mitchell, Robert Donahue of Chicago, IL; and loving partner of John Von Ohlen. Visitation is Wednesday, May 7, 2014 from 4:00pm to the hour of Service at 8:00pm all in Ronald B. Jones Funeral Home, 316 Elm Street, Ludlow, KY 41016. Cremation will follow the Service.
