Myrtle Birkley Keller Obituary

Myrtle Birkley Keller, born March 1, 1933 in Dayton, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 28, 2014 in her home with her family near after a series of hospital stays and complications from a stroke. Myrtle was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Keller; parents, Clarence & Florence Birkley; brothers, Gilbert & Ralph Birkley; sister-in-law, Ruth Birkley and son-in-law, Dan Wiedeman. Myrtle worked as a bank teller at the Bank of Dayton before becoming a housewife and mother. In later years she went back to banking at Blue Chip Savings. Myrtle was a faithful member of St. Catherine of Sienna Parish for 50 years where she was very active volunteering her time. She was a member of the mothers club and altar society, a founding member of the church newspaper, "The Community Circle," and the 500 marathon and the altar society candy sale. Myrtle was a member of the Siena Seniors and numerous card clubs in church and her neighborhood. Myrtle loved a good marching band and for years could be seen marching along with the 101st Army Band in Dayton's Memorial Day parade. But her real love was her family, cooking, sewing and caring for her husband, five children, grandchild and extended family. She will be sorely missed by her family and many lifelong friends. Myrtle is survived by her daughters, Barb Wiedeman of Dayton, KY, Mary Keller of Ft. Thomas, Jeannie Keller of Bellevue, Carol (Mark) Buemi of Dayton, KY; son, David Keller of Ft. Thomas; grandson, Alex Wiedeman of Dayton, KY and nephew, Don Birkley of Aloha, OR. Visitation 4-7 p.m., Friday, August 1st at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Ft. Thomas. Mass of Christian Burial 10 a.m., Saturday, August 2nd at St. Catherine of Siena Church, Ft. Thomas with the burial to follow at St. Stephen Cemetery, Ft. Thomas. Memorials are suggested to the Congregation of Sisters of Divine Providence, 5300 St. Anne Dr., Melbourne, KY 41059 or St. Catherine of Siena Parish, 1803 N. Ft. Thomas Ave., Ft. Thomas, KY 41075.
