Marilyn Hope LIPSITZ Obituary


Marilyn Hope Lipsitz died Wednesday, November 14, at Carmel Manor in Ft. Thomas. She was 84. The daughter of the late Carlisle Lewis Jones and Blanche Preston Jones, Hope was born in Ashland, Kentucky and resided there most of her life. She was married for 41 years to the late Dr. Bernard Lipsitz, an Ashland dentist. Hope attended Ashland Community College and Marshall University. She served as executive director of the Ashland YWCA and of Safe Harbor, and worked for Pathways, Inc., and the federal court. She served on the Ashland Board of Education and was a member of the dental auxiliary and the Agudath Achim Temple sisterhood. She was active in community theatre, appearing in numerous productions, most memorably as Dolly in Hello Dolly. Hope was preceded in death by her brother, Thomas Carlyle Jones. She is survived by two sisters, Carole Brewer of Ashland and Faith Grossl of Gahanna, Ohio, and by a daughter, Angela Lipsitz King (Michael), and two grandchildren, Katherine and Ben, of Wilder. Visitation and services will be held at Steen's Funeral Home in Ashland. Memorials are suggested to Carmel Manor or to a . Funeral services will be held 11 am Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012 at the Steen Funeral Home Central Avenue Chapel by Rev. Guy Moyer. Burial will follow at the Ashland Cemetery.
