Gerald W. Garvey, 84, of Burlington died Tuesday at his home. He was a retired Systems Analyst for Federated Department Stores, retiring after more than 30 years of service, a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, he graduated from the University of Kentucky and he also did his post graduate studies at U.K, a member of Hebron Lutheran Church, a member of the Flying Cardinals Model Airplane Club, his hobbies included woodworking, caning, art, astronomy and music, he was a craftsman of Violins and Dulcimers. He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Gladys Hughes Garvey. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Helen A. (Rogers) Garvey; three daughters, Bonnie (Jerry) Sarver of Columbus, OH, Arlene (Bob) Greenwood of Florence and Valerie (Craig) Holocher of Cincinnati; a son, Roger (Lecia) Garvey of Conroe, TX; nine grandchildren, Erin Greenwood, Lindsay Lamb, Tifini Sarver, Scott Sarver, Joshua Garvey, Miranda Hahs, Tom Willis, Charlie Willis and Jesse Willis and five great grandchildren. Visitation 9-11 a.m. Saturday at Hebron Lutheran Church, Hebron. Memorial services to follow at 11:00 a.m. at the church. A reception will be in the church fellowship hall following the services.
