Clayton Earl Napier, 86, of Laguna Woods, CA formerly of Kenton County passed away Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at his home.
He was a man who loved his family, dearly loved his granddaughters, was kind and generous, and will be greatly missed by his many friends in sailing, flying, the state of Idaho and throughout the world.
He graduated from Simon Kenton High School, served in the US Navy and US Air Force, retired from Collins Communications where his skills were used in contracts with the US government, earned his pilot's license to engage in his love of flying, loved the sport of sailing, was a member of American Legion Post 291, was very mindful of the plight of Native American children in their pursuit of an education, owned a home in Idaho where he vacationed, loved classical music, and recently developed an interest in Canadian train travel.
He was preceded in death by his father Skillion Franklin Napier and mother Lighty Napier; brothers Sherman Napier and Carl Edward Napier; sisters Mary Jane Bloemer, Oda Mae Kennedy, Frankie Estelle Langley and Winnie Gussie Ransdell. Survivors include his son Mike Napier and daughter-in-law Carol Lamb of Alamo, CA; grandchildren Claire and Katie Napier; his dearest friend and partner in the wonders of life, Richard Koons; and many adoring nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 10 AM until time of funeral service at 12 Noon Saturday, February 2, 2013 at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home of Independence. Burial will be at Independence Cemetery with military honors.
Memorials are suggested to St. Joseph's Indian School, The Sierra Club Foundation, or organization of your choice.
