Helen Elizabeth (Tubesing) Eilers, born June 14, 1924, 88 years old, passed away Sunday, June 9, 2013, at Carmel Manor Nursing Home, Ft. Thomas, KY, just 5 days before her 89th birthday. Helen endured a mastectomy resulting from breast cancer and suffered for several years from the results of a broken hip and stroke. For 64 years, she was the loving wife of William Anthony Eilers who preceded her in death just 11 weeks ago on March 23, 2013; loving and caring mother of Patricia A. Eilers (Mr. Jan Prickett), Edgewood, and Daniel A. (June) Eilers, Burlington; loving grandmother to Dana M. (Eric) Henderson, Burlington, and William A. (Jessica) Eilers, Erlanger; three great grandchildren: Lexi, Daniel, and Gavin; two sisters-in-law and several nieces and nephews. Helen was especially proud of her June 14th birthday which is Flag Day. She always wore flag pins and championed flag recognition and etiquette. In the late 1940's, Helen worked at a Cincinnati corset company and was also a personal shopper for a Cincinnati department store. She received certificates for her volunteer work at the Veterans Administration Nursing Home in Ft. Thomas, KY, from 1967-1969. An avid homemaker, Helen loved to bake, especially homemade bread from scratch, apple pie, and sugar cookies. She always insisted that family members have a birthday cake, regardless of their age. She was a lifelong member of St. Henry Church, Erlanger. She enjoyed bowling in league competition, playing cards including poker, watching the Cincinnati Reds baseball team, and feeding cardinal birds peanuts on her back porch. Devoted to family, she and her husband, Bill, organized Eilers' family reunions for many years. Helen enjoyed vacationing in Florida with her husband and friends from Maryland. A lover of people, Helen never met a stranger and couldn't resist talking to small children wherever she went.
