To his disciplinary decisions as teacher and Headmaster at Covington Latin School, Father Paul brought grace and mercy. I know this to be true, based on my and some classmates' experiences. For this I am grateful. May he rest in eternal peace with his dear wife, Pam, and may God's perpetual light shine upon both of them.

Herr Arbogast was my German teacher at Mason county high school when I was there. I was also in his caving club he started there and went several times caving throughout Kentucky. He helped open the world up to a poor kid who had no idea what life offered. I wish I had the wisdom then to have listened to him more and to have stayed in contact with him. Looking back, he was the one teacher who truly cared about me there.

Father Paul was an outstanding teacher, mentor, and leader of young men, who were privileged to be his students at Covington Latin School, and later his friends. He gave generously of his time and many talents, in providing opportunities which we would not have had without his kindness and leadership. Thank you, God, for Father Paul's life.

Mr. Arbogast was my debate coach at LCHS. He drove us all over Kentucky and even to Gatlinburg TN for debate trips. I'm a better librarian today because of the way his coaching taught me to follow the evidence. But one of the best life lessons I ever learned, was from him. When I was playing clarinet in one of the four school musicals he directed band for, I complained that "we'd still be playing the outmarch when all the audience is home in bed. When do they get to clap for the band." Mr. Arbogast responded, "Why do you need that acknowledgement? Isn't it enough to know in your heart you helped entertain people for a while and that is a good thing?" Of course, it wasn't good enough to a 16 year old child, but it was a lesson in humility that I needed to learn. Having finally learned it many years later, the power of his words were recalled to me and I've never forgotten them since. I wear the cross he gave me at my graduation to help me remember. Thank you Mr. Arbogast. You (and Pam/chorus) were some of the few bright lights I had at LCHS and I'll always appreciate and remember you both.

Thank you, Father Paul, for your life of bonitatis, disciplinae, et scientiae. Through the years you have inspired all who are privileged to have known and to have been guided by you. I am glad that you were blessed with marriage and children. May the Lord hold you close in Heaven. John O'Brien

Arbo was a brilliant man who demanded the best from his students, but he was much more than that. He coached the Latin School debate team to many championships (and drove them to tournaments all around Kentucky). He directed class plays. He was a talented musician -- I still remember the way he played "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring" on the chapel organ the day I graduated from Latin School 46 years ago. He led many expeditions: raft trips on the Whitewater and Colorado Rivers, bicycle trips in Europe. He made the world a better place for me and at least a thousand other students.

Bo had more of an influence on me than any other teacher in my life. He showed me that priests are regular people, and more importantly the three tenets of latin school - goodness, discipline and knowledge. Great memories of my time at latin school involve Bo - caving, CLEF, whitewater rafting on the Yough, even German class. My condolences to the Arbogast family.

Fr. Arbogast was a fine man for whom my respect grew over the years likely starting with the time spent biking together on CLEF 80. I admired him for the entire life he lead. He made a lot of us better people.

Paul Arbogast was a teacher, mentor and a good friend of mine. My first wild caving adventure was on a trip led by Bo in about 1973, an event that has shaped my life. We went on many caving trips together over the years. My condolences to the Arbogast family on your loss of this good man. May he rest in peace. Vale Bo!

I remember Fr.Arbogast as my Public Speaking teacher at Covington Latin School around 1958-1961.
I also remember him as the priest in charge of the St.Mary's Canteen dances, and he would issue the membership cards and quiz the prospective applicants to insure they were in fact Catholic teens.
And I'm sure he knew that some had been coached by those of us who actually were.
I respected Fr.Arbogast.
May he rest in peace.

My condolences to all the Arbogast family. I traveled many miles while a CLS student with Paul to debate tournaments, spent many nights "on the farm" and was a "tentmate" with him on the 1980 Europe bike tour ( CLEF '80). He was a great teacher, mentor, and a wonderful man.

You were a great teacher - Your directorship made our senior play "Billy Budd" a memorable experience for the Covington Latin School class of '63.
