Raymond Nichols Obituary

"Forever In Our Hearts"
Raymond Lee Nichols, 66, of Council Bluffs, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, December 4, 2007, at home.

He was born in Watertown, S.D., July 8, 1941. He has been a loving husband and the best dad and grandpa anyone could ever ask for. He was an extremely dedicated over the road professional truck driver with MILLIONS of safe driving miles. When he wasn't behind the wheel, he probably had a fishing pole in his hand.

He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond W. Nichols.

Reed; son, Anthony S. Nichols; grandson, Justin D. Kruse; great-grandson, Tristen K. Nichols; sisters and brothers-in-law, Jane and Mick Mitera, Susan and Melvin Armagost; sisters, JoAnn Nichols and Sylvia Rodden; brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Sandy Nichols; nieces, Susan Cieslicki, Tina Piercy and nephews, Michael Mitera, Montie Nichols, Brad Nichols, Chad Skolton, Melvin Armagost, Willard Armagost, Craig Nichols, John Nichols and Brandon Tompkins; and several great nieces and nephews. He was loved and will be missed by many.

The body has been cremated. No service will be held.

Dear Raymond,
You were a very special brother. You were always so kind, loving and patient. I have so many memories of us as kids and the good times we had. We always looked up to you as our protective big brother. You were such a hard worker and accepted your responsibilities. I wish you could have had more time after your retirement to do the things you loved to do. You will be missed by all of your family. I'll see you in heaven. Love you forever. Jane

A very special person has left us. For the seven years I have known Ray I have earned a father-in-law, grandpa, and mostly a great friend. I gained the utmost respect for any single person in my life. I looked up to Ray and he became somewhat of a role model to me. He was such a hard worker and one of the most helpful people I've ever met. I can't explain how thankful I am with everything he has done for Brandy and me. I will especially miss just sitting down and listening to all of his trucking experiences he loved to talk about. Ray would do whatever he had to do to help no matter what the circumstances he was in were. I only wish we could have spent more time together and that I could have known him longer.

I MISS YOU RAY

Dear Pa,
I miss you so much. When you left us, a big part of me went with you. My heart, my soul, and my life will never be the same without you here. You've always been my "rock," and my big, strong, overprotective Pa. You were always there for me and I knew I could always count on you no matter what in the good times and the bad. I'll always remember going trucking with you and rearranging loads of boxed meat at 3a.m. in Hy-Vee parking lot. Racing down 16th Street on our way home and our trips to Honey Creek at 100 m.p.h. every time one of us got a new vehicle were some of the best times of my life. I'll miss you and love you forever. You always have been and always will be....my HERO.
Loving you,
Your "daughter'"
Brandy
