Steven L. Hathaway, age 62, of Council Bluffs, Iowa, passed away February 17, 2013, at his home.

Steve was born May 7, 1950, in Council Bluffs. He graduated Abraham Lincoln High School in 1969 and proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. Steve worked for the Iowa DOT for 15 years. He was an avid softball player, Yankee, Hawkeye and Seattle Seahawk fan.

Steve was preceded in death by his mother, Ardiss Knutson; stepfather, John Knutson; and brother, Randy Kinnamon.

He is survived by his son, Steven Hathaway II and wife, Tara, of Honolulu, Hawaii; his special grandsons, Taven and Trystan Hathaway; brothers, Bernie (Annette) Hathaway, Danny and Mike Knutson; special niece, Brittney Knutson; nieces and nephews.

Visitation with the family Sunday, 6 to 8 p.m., at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Bayliss Park Chapel. Funeral service Monday, 11 a.m., at the funeral home with Rev. Dan Grauer officiating. VFW Post #737 will tender military honors. A luncheon will follow at the Lightning Bowl, 105 North 12th St. The family will direct memorials.
