1924 - 2012 DALTON Phyllis E. Corey Bradbury, 88, of Pomeroy Manor, 38 East Deming Street, Dalton, died Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2012, at her home. She was the last surviving sibling of the Corey family.
Born in Becket on May 14, 1924, daughter of Chauncey and Cassie Stone Corey, she attended Chester High School and was a graduate of Dalton High School. In 1968, she graduated from the Licensed Practical Nursing Program at McCann Technical Vocational School in North Adams.
Mrs. Bradbury was a homemaker. Her family was her life. For a short period of time she was a licensed practical nurse at various nursing homes. She had worked for Arbor Acres Farm in Williamstown in the Egg Room for many years. Mrs. Bradbury was a member of the First Methodist Church in Williamstown and also a member of the First Congregational Church of Dalton. She and her husband visited church members who were in nursing homes.
Her husband, Allan Rossman Bradbury, whom she married May 13, 1944, in Dalton, died Sept. 12, 2007.
Mrs. Bradbury is survived by a son, Andrew R. Bradbury, M.D., and his wife, Rebecca, of Rexford, Idaho; three daughters, Margaret E. Rice and her husband, Robert, of Rowe, Carolyn E. Smith and her husband, Kime, of Concord, Calif., and Catherine E. Whitcomb and her husband, David, of the Town of Worthington; 16 grandchildren and 17 great- grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.
FUNERAL NOTICE: A private family service will be held in October. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mrs. Bradbury may be made to the Dalton Ambulance and Rescue in care of the DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL HOME, 890 East Main Street, Dalton.
