Erla Mae (Stauffer) Banks Obituary
Erla Mae Stauffer Banks, 76, passed away peacefully Thursday, August 2, 2018 at Masonic Village, Elizabethtown. She was the widow of Charles Stephen Banks. She was born April 12, 1942 to the late Earle Stauffer and Alta Stauffer of Landisville. She graduated from Hempfield High School, attended West Chester State College, and graduated from Millersville State College. Erla enjoyed a long and fruitful teaching career at Lampeter Strasburg High School where she became head of the mathematics department. She also was an outstanding girl's field hockey and basketball coach, leading her teams to several county and district championships. Herself an expert golfer, she travelled to many Women's Professional Golf Association tournaments. After retiring she and her husband moved to Virginia where they owned Coan River Marina on the Chesapeake Bay. She is survived by a brother, James D. Stauffer of Manheim Township.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her memorial service at the John S. Sell Memorial Chapel, One Masonic Drive Elizabethtown PA, on Friday, September 14, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be at Landisville Mennonite Cemetery, on Camp Meeting Road immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations in Erla Mae's memory can be made to Landisville Church of God, 171 Church St., Landisville PA 17538. "Cards and personal notes on reflections of Erla Mae may be sent to: K. Berkich P.O. Box 291, Middleburg, PA 17842. These notes will be read at the memorial service.
