June Marie (Christiani) Walston Obituary
June Marie Christiani Walston, 83, departed her Earthly life on Thursday, August 30, 2018. Born in Washington, D.C. to Orlando Christiani and Evelyn Hansbrough Christiani, June was the wife of Robert Lee Walston, Jr. She had a full career as a telephone operator for the Bell Telephone Company, first in Washington and then in the Northern Neck where she and Robert moved in 1971. She attended Welcome Grove Baptist Church.
June lived her life for her children. She was a completely devoted and selfless mother and grandmother. She loved cooking and sewing and made her house a home. Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Robert; sons, Glenn Eugene Scott of Woonsocket, RI, Robert Lee Walston, III of Farnham, John David Walston (Betty) of Dekalb, MS, and William Ray Walston (Joyce) of Dunnsville; daughters, Mary Lynn Edgar (Randy) of Glenn Dale, MD, Elizabeth Shields of Ocean City, MD, Caroline Barrett (Jay) of Snellville, GA, Cathy McCullum (David) of Portland, OR, and Norman Jean Tucker (Dickie) of Appomattox; twenty-seven grandchildren, forty great-grandchildren, brothers, Earl Christiani, Jr. (Bonnie), Thomas Christiani (Angela) and Albert Christiani and sister, Shirley Kendall (George) of Mount Holly.
Preceding her in death are her parents; her son, James Earl Walston; her daughter-in-law Stephanie Walston; and her brothers, Gary Christiani and Larry Christiani.
A visitation for June was held at Welch Funeral Home Marks Chapel on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 from 11 a.m. until Noon. A graveside committal was held following this visitation at the Welcome Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Newland, Virginia with the Reverend Willard Bowen officiating.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Richmond County Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. 626, Warsaw, Virginia, 22572.
