DeVRIES
David, 89, passed away on Thursday, November 7, 2013 at his residence in Vero Beach, Florida.
David was born in Freisland, Holland. He was a resident of Vero Beach for the past 28 years, coming from Paramus, New Jersey.
He served is the Army during World War II and received a Bronze Star and Purple Heart.
Prior to retirement David was the owner and operator of Dave DeVries Excavating and Son in Paramus New Jersey for over 40 years. He was a volunteer firefighter in Glen Rock and Paramus New Jersey for a total for 30 years. He also served on the Citizens Observation Patrol in Vero Beach, FL, for 10 years. David enjoyed auto racing, trucking and fishing.
Survivors include his wife, Doris DeVries of Vero Beach, FL, son David DeVries, Jr. of Trumbull, CT, daughters, Joyce Hammett of Cave Creek, AZ, Carol Davis of Sturgeon Bay, WI, step son, Glenn Miller of Midland Park, NJ, brother Pier DeVries of San Bernardino, CA, nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
David was preceded in death by his first wife, Radie DeVries from New Jersey.
Services will be held at 1 PM Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at Faith Baptist Church in Vero Beach, FL. There will a Memorial Service held in New Jersey in late Spring.
