WAYNE - George Alfano, 94, of Wayne, died Oct. 10, 2013.
Born and raised in Garfield, he lived primarily in Little Ferry before moving to Wayne. He served in the U.S. Navy as a radioman teaching Morse Code to enlisted men during World War II. He owned MKM Machine Shop of Little Ferry for over 30 years.
Alfano was an avid amateur radio operator with the call letters of W2NHZ. During his retirement he enjoyed traveling with his motor home and loved the Eastern Shore of Virginia and Maine.
Alfano was the husband of Gina (Jean) (nee Piscitelli) whom he married in 1957. Father of Pamela Alfano of Readers, Pa., Matthew Alfano of Little Ferry, Gina Alfano-Pear and her husband, Rand of Wyckoff, and the late Marjorie Campanelli. He is also survived by six grandchildren, six great grandchildren. He was also predeceased by one grandson, two brothers and one sister.
