Adragna, Jack* - Park Ridge  
ADRAGNA Jack, 78 of Park Ridge passed away peacefully on Saturday 5/21/16 in his home with his wife of 45 years, Susan (Orsino) Adragna, at his side. He was the oldest son of the deceased Michael and Jean Adragna. Jack enjoyed life to the fullest especially his beloved NYC. His gift of gab was enjoyed by all who knew him. He is survived by brother Richard Adragna and nephew Rick Adragna of Orlando, FL and his brother-in-law, Frank Orsino of Huntington Beach, CA. Cremation will be private. Donations to the Tri Boro Ambulance Corp., PO Box 204, Park Ridge, NJ 07656-0204 would be appreciated.

WANAQUE — Services will be held for Kathy M. Hopper Akers, 63, of the Haskell section of this community, who died on Sunday, May 22, 2016. Born in Paterson, Mrs. Akers was a lifelong resident of Haskell. She was a school bus driver for the Ringwood Board of Education. Also, she had been a member of the Wanaque First Aid Squad Auxiliary and the Wanaque Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary. Arrangements are by the Richards Funeral Home, Riverdale. Mrs. Akers is survived by her husband, Jim; her sons, Jim of Wanaque, Jack of Pennsylvania, and Joseph of Wanaque; her brothers, Hank Hopper of Sussex, Joseph Hopper of Las Vegas, Nev., and Gary Davin of Wanaque; her sisters, Dorothy Rogers of Las Vegas, Betty Goritski of Pennsylvania, and Karen Hopper of Florida; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

AMBROGIO Giovanna (nee Zisa), age 92 of Clifton at rest in Clifton on May 22, 2016. Beloved wife of the late Consalvo Ambrogio (2005). Loving mother of Aldo Ambrogio of Clifton. Dear grandmother of Isabella Ambrogio and Andrew, Nicholas, and Alexander Ambrogio. Aunt of Brunilde Zisa and Michele Zisa, both of Italy. Born in Santa Croce Camerina, Prov. di Ragusa, Sicily, Italy, she came to the U.S.A. in 1961 settling in Paterson before moving to Clifton in 1966. She was a Homemaker. Mrs. Ambrogio was a member of the San Giuseppe Santa Croce Camerina Society, Hawthorne. She was a member of the Sicilian Federation of New Jersey and the Alfano Society as a Commitee Member. Mrs. Ambrogio was a liason with the Italian Consulate, New York, NY. She was a parishioner of St. Paul's R.C. Church, Clifton. She loved to garden and was an avid NY Mets Fan. She was a former basketball player in Italy. She also enjoyed time spent with her grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral from the Festa Memorial Funeral Home, 111 Union Blvd., Totowa, on Thursday at 10:15 AM. Funeral Mass to follow at St. Paul's R.C. Church, Clifton at 11 AM. Interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Totowa. Relatives and friends may visit Wednesday 4-8 PM. ADLER Florence E., of Denville, formerly of Hackensack, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 19, 2016, at the age of 95 years. Born in Garfield, she lived in Hackensack for many years and lived in Denville for four years. Prior to retiring, she was a Principal and Educator for the Garfield Board of Education. She was a parishioner of Holy Trinity R. C. Church of Hackensack, where she served as a trustee, eucharistic minister, catechist, member of the parish council, liturgical committee, and parish finance committee. She was a former parishioner of Holy Name R. C. Church in Garfield where she served as a trustee. She was a member of Older is Better at Felician College in Lodi, St. Anthony's Guild, St. Anthony of Padua Society and St. Francis Friends of the Poor all of New York City. Devoted daughter of the late Wendell and Anna (nee Schweighardt). Beloved sister of Wendell Adler Jr. and his wife Mildred of Milford, PA. Dearest aunt of Douglas Adler and his wife Tricia of Dingmans Ferry, PA. and Wendell Adler III and his wife Patty of Fair Lawn. Loving Godmother of Joan McComas and her husband Bill of Denville and Laura Zelenka and her husband Jerry of Clifton and both goddaughter's children, Elena and her husband Tim and their child Aisling, Luke and his girlfriend Amanda, Michael and wife Margaret and their children Isabel and Maverick, John, and Chrissy and boyfriend Aaron. Albanese, Charles* - Northvale  
ALBANESE Charles L., 97, born and resided in Northvale his entire life, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, May 19, 2016. Beloved husband of the late Agnes (nee Buonocore). Cherished father of Diane Duncan and husband Mitchell of Rockwood, ME, Michele Albanese of Northvale and Leonard Albanese and wife Grayce of Northvale. Adored grandfather of Leo Albanese and wife Meaghan of Littleton, CO and Charles Albanese of Northvale. Dearest brother of Grace Tirelli of Closter, Joseph of Northvale, Leonard of Closter and the late Antoinette Hallahan and Anthony. Also survived by many other loving relatives and friends. Charles was a US Army Air Corps Veteran of World War II serving with the 318th Fighter Group on Saipan and was a proud member of the American Legion for 62 years. He, along with his brothers, owned Albanese Brothers Contracting which they began in 1945 and operated for over fifty years. After retiring Charles worked at the Rockleigh Golf Course for 22 years as ranger and starter. He served his community in many ways over the years; as a member of the Northvale Planning Board and serving for a time as its chairman, as Northvale Building Inspector, as a dedicated parishioner of St. Anthony's Church, as a member of the Lions Club International, founding member of the Northvale Rod and Gun Club and as life member of the Northvale Volunteer Fire Department. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday 10 AM at St. Anthony's RC Church, Northvale with interment to follow at Rockland Cemetery, Sparkill, NY. AVAGNANO, Margaret C. "Peggy" (Dowd)* - Waldwick  
AVAGNANO Margaret C. "Peggy" (nee Dowd), age 80 of Waldwick, died Thursday, May 19, 2016. Born in Jersey City, Peggy lived in Kearny before moving to Waldwick 60 years ago. Before her retirement in 1995 Peggy worked as a Nurse and Dietician at the Ridgewood Nursing Home. She was a parishioner of St. Luke's RC Church in HoHoKus. Her children and grandchildren were her priority and she loved to care for them. Surviving is her loving husband of 58 years, Ralph J. Avagnano and her devoted sons, Louis and his wife Jamie and Jerry Avagnano. Peggy also leaves her adoring grandchildren, Jesse, Dean, Montana, Jenna and Lucas. Also surviving are her two sisters, Eileen Motz and Kitty Monahan and her brother Joseph Dowd. The Avagnano family will receive friends on Tuesday 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home ( www.vpfh.com ), 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff, NJ.
