Anderson, Robert* - Rutherford  
ANDERSON Robert F., Jr., 73, of Rutherford, passed away on May 29, 2015. He was born in Paterson, NJ to the late Robert and Ann (Gallo) Anderson. Robert retired as a police officer from the Rutherford Police Department. He was a member of the Cherry Ridge Range in West Milford, the Rutherford PBA Local #300 and the PBA Retirees Local #5. He was the beloved husband of Billie (Els) Anderson, the treasured father of Robert F. Anderson, III and his wife Judy, Tereza Macklin, William Anderson and Jenn, Kelly Paasch, and Michael Anderson, the adored grandfather of Amy, Ali, Danny and Sarah and great-grandfather of Mia and Estrella. He is the dear brother of Joseph and Derrick Anderson and the late Ann Diodato and is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 1-4 and 6-9 PM at Santangelo Funeral Home, 635 McBride Ave., Woodland Park. A funeral service will be offered on Monday at 10:30 AM at Santangelo Funeral Home. APRICENO Edna Mae (nee Nelson), age 81, of Dumont, entered into eternal life on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at Care One, Westwood. Beloved wife of 58 years of Anthony Apriceno. Devoted mother of Anthony and his wife Christine, David, and Steven and his wife Valerie. A great joy in Edna's life were her cherished grandchildren; Anthony and Vivienne Mae. Dear sister of Roy Nelson and his wife Addie. Predeceased by her brother, Wilbur Nelson. Edna was born in Dumont, NJ to the late Esther (nee Johnson) and Edwin Nelson and was employed as a supervisor at SAFECO Insurance Company. Edna was a caring, loving wife, mother and grandmother. Interment of cremains to take place Saturday, 11 AM, at Woodside Cemetery, Dumont. Arrangements Frech Funeral Home, 161 Washington Avenue, Dumont. ABBATIELLO Vincent, age 81, of Hawthorne, on Monday, May 25, 2015. Born in Jersey City and raised in North Bergen, Vincent had lived in Palisades Park and Germany before moving to Hawthorne, where he had lived for the past 55 years. He served his country in the United States Army and was a carpenter for the Hudson County Local #6 for 65 years. Vincent was active with the Boys and Girls Club of Hawthorne and had helped in the construction of the club. For 59 years Vincent was the beloved husband of Phyllis (nee: Caliguiro) Abbatiello. Loving father of Phyllis Walsh and her husband William of Dumont and Vincent Abbatiello of Wyckoff. Dear grandfather of Victoria Walsh of Dumont, Nicole Abbatiello of Wyckoff and the late Vincent Abbatiello (2014). Dearest brother of Gloria Plakatosas of Florida. A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Friday, May 29, 2015 at the Browning-Forshay Funeral Home, 557 Lafayette Ave., Hawthorne. Interment will follow at Maryrest Cemetery in Mahwah. Avoglia, Vera* - Rosemont  
AVOGLIA Vera, age 87, died Monday, May 25, 2015, at her home in Rosemont, NJ, surrounded by her family. Born August 5, 1927, in Jersey City, NJ, Vera was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Rose (Angersola) DeLorenzi. She was raised in Union City, graduated from Holy Rosary High School, and later married the late Louis G. Avoglia. Together they moved to Lodi, NJ, where Vera remained until moving to Delaware Township, NJ in 2001. Vera and Louis travelled throughout the United States, especially to Lake George, NY, and Ship Bottom on Long Beach Island. A homemaker, she loved to cook and spend time with her family. Predeceased by her parents and her husband Louis in 1987, Vera is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Leo Gates of Rosemont, NJ, her grandson, Keith Santana of Flagler Beach FL, her grandson and his wife, Kristopher and Kristin Santana of Ringoes, NJ, her great grandsons, Xanthus and Tristan Santana, and Sebastian Shaber, as well as her cousin and her husband, June and James Sokolich. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9:30 AM, Saturday, May 30, 2015, at St. John the Evangelist Church, 44 Bridge Street, Lambertville, NJ 08530. Akhtarshenas, James* - Canaan  
AKHTARSHENAS James M., 28 of Canaan, CT, formerly of Paramus, passed away on May 21, 2015. He fought a long battle with addiction, succeeding for several years in sobriety before this last episode which caused his fatality. He is survived by his parents, Manoocher and Janet Akhtarshenas; his sisters, Andrea and Isabella; his grandmother, Nancy C. Huffman, all of Paramus. James is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins in Paramus and Iran. He graduated from Paramus Catholic H.S. and Bergen Community College, and also attended Northeastern University. He was employed as a construction worker in CT. James was interested in many sports, playing club hockey, and enjoying snowboarding, surfing and swimming. He learned to swim before he could walk and enjoyed ocean swimming and the beach. He was an avid fan of the Devils and the Giants, attending many of their games with his Dad. His summer travels with a youth group included trips to England, Scotland and Wales, Australia and New Zealand. His family will cherish their memories of his youth, recalling a sweet and sensitive boy with a loving disposition. His was a young life cut short by an insidious disease which he truly tried to overcome. Rest in Peace our beloved James. Family will receive friends on Tuesday May 26, 2015 from 3-8PM for memorial visitation at the Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 113 South Farview Avenue, Paramus, NJ. Memorial Service will be held at 11:00AM on Wednesday, May 27th at the Vander Plaat Memorial Home, Paramus.
