JOONDEPH, Jerome*
JOONDEPH Jerome, passed away peacefully on June 6, at age of 92. Born in Brooklyn to immigrant parents, Jerry attended pharmacy school at Columbia University. During WWII, he piloted a B24 in 22 missions over northern Europe, seeing action in the Battle of the Bulge and receiving many decorations. His long engagement in the Ramsey community began in 1950, when he bought Parvin Pharmacy and, with his business partner Mike DeLuca, made it the place to go for medications, cosmetics and, in the early days, even a soda fountain treat. Jerry was a founder of the Ramsey Recreation Commission where he led efforts to create and expand Finch Park and the Ramsey Pool. He enjoyed travel to St. Maarten and Cape Cod, jogging, racketball, and BSing every Saturday morning with Mike and Maury Solomon at the State Line Diner. The stock market was a passion, as were his beloved Duke Blue Devils. Jerry and his wife Frances shared 35 years as residents in Upper Saddle River. Frances passed away in 2004. Jerry survived two other wives, Alice and Elizabeth, as well as son Jerome John, grandson Ryan and great grandson CJ. He is survived by daughters Diann and Bradlee, sons Bob, Doug and Ken, 14 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. A service is being planned for a later date.
