Lionetti, Dorothy* - Not Provided
LIONETTI Dorothy "Dottie," of Lauderdale by the Sea, Florida, and Northern NJ, passed away on March 19, 2015. Dorothy C. Lionetti (Nani) was born in West New York NJ where she shared a two bedroom apt. with her parents, two sisters and three brothers. We all have a beginning and an end. Early on, Dorothy learned how to cook incredible meals including the tastiest spaghetti sauce this side of the Atlantic, lasagna, fettuccini, carbonara, leg of lamb, spaghetti and crabs and the list goes on. As a young woman she worked as a seamstress in the local clothing store. She met her husband Gerry Lionetti shortly after (love at first sight) and in six months were married. Dorothy started a family at 24 with six children giving birth to the last child at 42 years old, an amazing feat in today's standards considering she was just shy of 5 foot tall. She provided her family Jerry D (Cheddas), Dorothy (Sis), Sandra (Sandy), Lorraine (Rayne) Norman (Norm) and Christine (Chris) an amazing start to their lives with endless love, gentle caring and always there for the special moments. Dorothy (Nani's) last years were just as sweet as the beginning and middle. Even though her health rapidly declined shortly after her husband Jerry passed, she was blessed with three caretakers (Ruby Acuna Espiritu, Isabel Rumalian, and Susan Benigno) who provided care that could only be described as nothing short of amazing. Confined to a wheel chair and unable to walk and towards the end speak, the girls would take Nani dancing, to numerous church events and even fly her to family events such as baptisms, weddings and many others. Dorothy (Nani) was a graceful, sweet, loving, kind and gentle lady that will be missed by many. Rest Peacefully Nani. Dorothy is survived by her children, Dorothy Zulli (Robert), Gerard Lionetti (Beth), Sandra Regensburg ( William), Lorraine Hoffmann, Norman Lionetti (Patricia), Christine Lionetti, twelve grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, caregivers for ten years, Ruby Acuna Espiritu, Isabelle Dumaluan, and Susan Benigno. Dorothy was born in West New York in 1917, married to Gerard Lionetti for 65 years, they owned a fuel company in North Bergen, and raised their family in Closter, and North Bergen, NJ. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday, March 20th, at 4:00pm, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 4595 Bay view Drive, Fort Lauderdale, Florida 33308. A viewing will be at Feeney Funeral Home Ridgewood, NJ, 7-9 PM Friday March 27 and funeral/mass at 11 AM Sat 28th at Madonna Cemetery, and Entombment will be in Madonna Cemetery, in Fort Lee, NJ. The family suggests memorial gifts to, Alzheimer's Association or Sisters for Life. Feeneyfuneralhome.com
