KINNELON — Services will be held for Julia Whitescarver, 89, of this community, who died on Tuesday, February 17, 2015. Born in Newark, Mrs. Whitescarver was raised in East Orange and moved to Kinnelon in 1959. She was a draftsman for ITT during World War II. Also, she was a painter and a writer. Arrangements are private. Mrs. Whitescarver is survived by her sons, William, James, Robert, and John; 10 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Franklin; her parents, Charles and Julia Muller; and five siblings.

WALEK Margaret, age 102, formerly of Butler, passed away peacefully at the Manors in Hobe Sound, Florida on January 18, 2015. Born Margaret Maher, she was raised by her beloved mother Joanna with her sister Mary (May) in Butler, NJ. Margaret was a devout Catholic, with a warm sense of humor and a welcoming smile for everyone she met. With family spread across the continent, Margaret faithfully stayed in touch, visiting and writing long, engaging letters to four generations of family and many friends. She was happily married to John Paul Walek for 71 years and they had 12 children. Margaret was predeceased by her husband John and children Ann and Richard. She is survived by her other children, Theresa Henry, John P. (Jack), Margaret (Peggy) Weiner, Joanne Logan, Susan Rhinesmith, Mary Niessen, Kathleen Shapiro, Michael ,Daniel, and Patricia Coleman. She is also survived by 31 grandchildren, 65 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. A Memorial gathering will be held Wednesday, February 25, from 4-8 PM at The Morrison Funeral Home, 86 Bartholdi Ave, Butler, NJ. A Memorial Mass to celebrate Margaret's life will be held on February 26, 2015, at 10 AM, St. Mary's Catholic Church, Pompton Lakes, NJ. Wayman, Bernard* - Fort Lee  
WAYMAN Bernard, of Fort Lee on February 21, 2015. Born in Hebburn, England on October 24, 1920, he served for six years during WWII in the Royal Engineers of the British Army, for several of those years building the Burma Road and repairing the airfield where the Flying Tigers were based. After the War he emigrated to the U.S., became a citizen, and joined The International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 825. He was an operating engineer and then lead engineer for 35 years on various construction projects in New Jersey and New York, including Newark Airport, the New Jersey Turnpike and Garden State Parkway, the Tappan Zee Bridge, and Butler Dam. He was a devoted family man, a good friend to many, and a lifelong lover of animals who counted among his pets horses, dogs, rabbits, pigeons, and canaries. The beloved husband of the late Adeline Wayman (neé Cavally) and brother of the late Edna Cooney and Martha Ward, he is survived by his sister Patience McDermott, his children Ellen Wayman-Gordon and Nicholas Gordon, Laurie (Wayman) Lyons and James Lyons, and William Wayman, his grandchildren Christopher Lyons and Aoife McDaid, Jessica Lyons, and Tiffany and William Wayman, and nephews and nieces Patrick and Jan Cooney, Bernard and Jacqueline Owston, and Keith and May Owston. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February, 25th from 3-5 and 7-9 PM at the Frank A. Patti and Kenneth Mikatarian Funeral Home, 327 Main Street, "opposite the Fort Lee Library". The funeral will leave 10:30 AM Thursday, February 26th for the celebration of his funeral mass in the Historic Madonna R.C. Church, 2070 Hoefley's Lane Fort Lee at 11 AM.
