CALAMUSSO, Joseph* - Pequannock  
CALAMUSSO Joseph, age 91, on Saturday, February 28, formerly a 64 year resident of New Milford, and recently a resident of Pompton Plains, NJ. Born and raised in Queens, NY, he proudly served his country during World War II in the United States Navy, aboard the light aircraft carrier USS Langley, CVL-27, participating in two of the greatest naval engagements in history - The Battle of the Philippine Sea and the Battle of Leyte Gulf. After his service, he became a self employed meat cutter, owning markets in the Bronx, NY, Demarest, NJ and Rutherford, NJ. He was also employed at the Oradell Meat Market, retiring at the age of 89. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 57 years, Agnes in 2004, and son Joseph, also in 2004. He is survived by three daughters Joann and her husband Bill Supper of Texas, Jane and her husband Henry Spoerl of Bergenfield, NJ, Nancy and her husband John of Newfoundland, NJ. He is also survived by his seven grandchildren - Alice, Billy, Richie, Justin, Danny, Nick, and Kaitlyn, as well as his ten great-grandchildren, Bennet, Olvia, Chandler, Hope, Bella, Justin, Sebatian, Austen, Josh, and Alyssa. Visitation will be at the Volk Leber Funeral Home, 268 Kinderkamack Rd., Oradell, NJ 07649 on Tuesday, March 3, 2-4 and 7-9PM. A service will be held at the Funeral Home Wednesday morning at 10AM with a burial to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Valhalla, NY. In lieu of flowers donations in Joe's name to the Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090 are appreciated by the family. www.volkleber.com

Calamusso, Joseph (Editorial) - Pequannock  
PEQUANNOCK — Services will be held for Joseph Calamusso, 91, of the Pompton Plains section of this township, who died on Saturday, February 28, 2015. Born and raised in Queens, N.Y., Mr. Calamusso lived in New Milford for 64 years before moving to Pompton Plains. He was a self-employed meat cutter, owning markets in the Bronx, Demarest, and Rutherford. Also, he worked at the Oradell Meat Market before retiring at the age of 89. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II as well. Arrangements are by the Volk Leber Funeral Home, Oradell. Burial will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Valhalla, N.Y. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, D.C. 20090. CARAFELLO Blase J., 77, of Elmwood Park, died Monday, March 2, 2015. Born in Bridgeport, CT he grew up in Paterson before moving to Elmwood Park 51 years ago. Mr. Carafello began his career as a draftsman for Bendix Aeronautics in Teterboro, before founding Blase 'n Corso Realty, Lodi, in 1969. Carafello grew the business, expanding to multiple locations and operated for 36 years, before retiring in 2005. Loving father of Stephen and his wife, Donna of Denville, Blaise of Long Beach, CA, Amy Carafello Peraino and her husband, William of West Milford and Christopher and his wife, Joanna of Closter, proud grandfather of Matthew Carafello and dear brother of Madelyn Church of Elmwood Park and Joseph Carafello of Los Angeles, CA. CARMICHAEL Richard Oscar was born in Guyana on July 22, 1951. He migrated to the United States in 1970. He was the third child of Edna and Oscar Carmichael. Richard passed away on February 20, 2015, at Villa Marie Claire Hospice Facility, Saddle River, New Jersey. He was a long time resident of Hillsdale NJ, and resided in Sussex, NJ. Richard progressed through the ranks at Chemical Bank and retired from Bank of America as Senior Vice President of Global Treasury Services in 2006. Upon retirement, Richard together with his wife and brother, Patrick, started Optima Performance Consulting Business, doing business with professionals, small business and financial institutions. Richard was particularly proud about the work that he did with Neil Cerbone Associates. Richard had his Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), in Banking & Finance, and he was a graduate of Harvard Business school Advanced Management Program. Richard loved to travel and was an ardent sports fan, and particularly loved football. For years he coached the Youth Football in Hillsdale NJ. He was an avid reader and a lover of history. Richard was very family oriented and was passionate about teaching. He took an interest in the education and career of all his nieces and nephews. Richard is survived by his wife Patricia, son Marc Eliot and his daughter-in-law Courtney, his brothers Edward, Patrick (Janet), and Linden; his sisters Yvonne Shepherd (Henry), Jennifer Brown (Dave); his nephews Marc, Nigel, Shaun; his nieces Paige, Yonette, Gayle, Faith, and many grand-nieces and grand-nephews. Richard touched many people in his life and will be missed both by his friends and professional colleagues. The family will receive their relatives and friends at Becker Funeral Home 219 Kinderkamack Road, Westwood, NJ on Friday, February 27 from 10:00AM-12:30PM. The service celebrating Richard's life will begin at 12:30PM.
