Johnson, Patricia (Editorial) - Ridgewood
RIDGEWOOD - Patricia "Patty" (Sisco) Johnson, 60, died on July 22. A lifelong resident of Ridgewood, Patty graduated from Ridgewood High School in 1974. Soon thereafter, she attended Felician College where she graduated with a degree in nursing in 1979. Being a nurse was the perfect place for a woman whose lifelong desire was to make others happier - and she excelled at that, first at Valley Hospital, then at Cardiac Associates for 23 years before settling into years of caring and support as an RN at Sunrise Senior Living Center in Paramus. Patty faced a 13-year battle against multiple cancers, starting with breast cancer caused by the BRCA1 gene, fighting with fortitude and positive spirit that constantly amazed those who knew of her illness. She continued working as long as she could, caring for others even as the diseases and their treatment finally took away her strength. She was the wife of Bruce for 33 years; daughter of Rita A. Sisco and the late Carl J. Sisco; sister of Rita Sisco Jenkins and the late Mary Ann Sisco Joynson. She is also survived by her in-laws Cheryl Keith, Gail Ericsson and Roger Johnson; cousins; multiple nephews, nieces, grand-nephews and grand-nieces. Arrangements are by the Feeney Funeral Home in Ridgewood. Memorial donations may be made to Pet ResQ, Inc., 24 W. Railroad Ave., Tenafly, NJ 07670 ( petresqinc.org ).
