Schreiber, Anna (Editorial) - Carlstadt
Anna Paula Schreiber, M.D. (nee Mayrhofer), 82, of Carlstadt for over 20 years, passed away on August 27, 2016. She was born in Austria and came to the U.S.A. in 1959. From 1972 to 2003, she practiced obstetrics and gynecology in her office located in Rutherford. Everyone who has come into contact with Dr. Schreiber has some sort of story to tell: good, bad, hysterical, typically entailing some sort of action or comment she has made. She always found a way to make a grand impression on someone for better or for worse. If she hadn't ended up as an OBGYN, perhaps she would've done well as a stand-up comedian or travel show host. However, she did pretty well as a physician, paving a way for fellow female doctors and fighting the odds, even if it was simply with brutal honesty and snarky remarks. She was a magnificent woman, who inspired everyone around her to constantly dream and fight for the impossible, even when it seemed like it wasn't achievable. She was the best mother, grandmother, doctor, friend, and dog owner anyone could have asked for, and she will be missed immensely. Beloved mother of Ursula Andrea Schreiber and Barbara Parnell and her husband George; cherished grandmother of Annamaria Schreiber and Katherine Parnell; dear sister of Eduard Mayrhofer, Reinhard Mayrhofer and Franz Mayrhofer. She is survived by her dog and loyal companion, Kizmet. A funeral will depart from the Kimak Funeral Home, 425 Broad St., Carlstadt on Tuesday, August 30 at 9:30 a.m. for a funeral mass in St. Joseph's R.C. Church, East Rutherford at 10 a.m. Cremation will be private. Visitation is Monday, August 29 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Eva's Village, 393 Main St., Paterson, N.J. 07501.
