Adeline F. (nee Fagnano) died peacefully at her home in Fairview, NJ, on Friday, September 27, 2013. Daughter of the late Frank and Rose Fagnano of Fairview, Adeline was born on July 9, 1915 in Niles, Ohio and was a resident of Fairview for more than 80 years. She was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Daniel J. Verina, in 1990. She was the loving mother of Daniella Laino and her husband Joe of Fairview; Michael Verina and his wife Lillian of West Milford, NJ; and Cynthia Spadola and her husband Joseph of Ridgefield, NJ. She was the devoted grandmother ("Nanny") of Joseph Laino, Lucille Truchan, Daniel Verina, Mark Laino, Andrea D'Arco, and Cynthia Spadola, their spouses, and four great grandchildren, Adeline Truchan, Frances Truchan, Salvatore D'Arco, and Dominick D'Arco. She leaves her beloved siblings Eugene Fagnano of Fairview, NJ; Dolores Deery of Levittown, PA; Rose Stigliano of Hillsdale, NJ; and Frances Barnes of Middletown, NJ as well as the late Albert Fagnano of Fairview, NJ; Raymond Fagnano of Rivervale, NJ; Rita Campagna of Menonomee Falls, WI; and Anthony Fagnano of Fairview, NJ in addition to her devoted Thursday night and Sunday afternoon companion, Barbara Fagliarone, as well as many nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors. With all of her loved ones, Adeline always ended her conversations with the reminder, "Just remember
that I love you."
Adeline was an active participant in numerous civic and religious organizations including the St. Fabian Society (past president), the American Heart Association, the Rosary Altar Society of Our Lady of Grace Parish (past president), the Fairview PTA (past president) and the Juvenile Justice Committee of Fairview. Adeline loved her church, her family, and music. She always said, "Life is like a piano, what you get out of it depends on how you play it." She took great pride in her work as a Kindergarten teacher at the Epiphany School in Cliffside Park, NJ for over 20 years and finally as the Music teacher at Our Lady of Grace School in Fairview (where she had been named "Teacher of the Year") for 28 years, retiring in 2008. She was a true reflection of the phase, "To teach is to touch a life forever." She was a devoted parishioner of Our Lady of Grace Parish, and, until very recently, could be found every Sunday in her favorite front row seat.
The viewing will be held at A.K. Macagna Funeral Home, 2PM 9PM on Monday, September 30, 2013 with a funeral mass at Our Lady of Grace Church on Tuesday October 1, 2013 at 10 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Our Lady of Grace School, 400 Kamena St. Fairview, NJ 07022.
