Hawthorne — Alan Ralph Weiss, 71, died March 5.
Born in Paterson he lived in Haledon before moving to Hawthorne 45 years ago. A graduate of Central High School in Paterson, he received his Bachelor's degree from New York University
. He served in the United States Marine Corps
during the Vietnam War
and was an insurance agent for John Weiss & Company in Paterson and North Haledon. He was a member of the Rotary Club
of Haledon/North Haledon where he served in several positions, including club president, and was awarded the Paul Harris Fellowship for outstanding service. He was also a member of the Passaic County Board of Realtors where he served as president in 1976, Boy Scouts of America Troop 30 serving as Scoutmaster for several years and a member of Volunteers of America.
He was the son of the late Ralph and Charlotte Weiss; father of Christopher Weiss and his wife, Aimee, of Palo Alto, Calif.; and grandfather of two.
Funeral was March 10. Arrangements by Vander Plaat-Vermeulen Memorial Home, Franklin Lakes.
