Allen F. Manning

LYNDHURST- Allen F. Manning, 65, was called to heaven on Oct. 27, at the Clara Maass Medical Center, Belleville. Born in Newark, he lived in North Arlington before moving to Lyndhurst in 1999.

Mr. Manning worked as a service technician for Petro Fuel Company in South Plainfield for 16 years before retiring in 2010. Previously he worked for MacArthur Fuel in Clark, Q Petroleum in Newark, Fairclough Fuel in Paterson, and Efficiency Heating in Jersey City. He served in the U.S. Navy as a mechanic and boiler room engineer on the USS Battleship New Jersey (BB62) during the Vietnam War and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign War Post 4697, North Arlington.

Mr. Manning was the beloved husband of Frances C. (Koch); the loving son of the late Frank M. and late Anna (nee Wlosek); the cherished father of Celeste Matheis and her husband, Steven, of Little Falls; the adored grandfather of Kourtney, and the dear brother of the late Audrey Manning. He will be greatly missed by his many loving relatives and friends.

The funeral will be from the Parow Funeral Home, 185 Ridge Road, North Arlington, on Wednesday, Oct. 30, at 11 a.m., thence to Mount Carmel Church, Lyndhurst, for the funeral mass at noon. The entombment will follow in Holy Cross Chapel Mausoleum, North Arlington. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Tuesday, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in his memory to the Battleship New Jersey, (BB62), 62 Battleship Place, Camden, N.J. 08103.
