Arthur Blackinger

Arthur J. "Mr. B," 88, of Clifton died Thursday, January 17, 2013. Born in Passaic, Art resided in Clifton for the past 62 years. He is a US Army Veteran of WWII who participated in the Normandy Invasion. Art was employed as a Contract Administrator for Singer Kearfott Corp. in Wayne for 17 years before retiring in 1991. Previously, he had been employed by ITT in Paramus. Most recently, Art was a driver for Bond Floats in Clifton using his Big Blue Suburban adorned with "God Bless America" to tow. He is a member and Past Master of Clifton Masonic Lodge, a Past Grand Chaplain of the NJ Grand Lodge of Masons and a former Dad of Clifton Chapter Order of De Molay. Art is also a Past Patron of Clifton Chapter #269 Order of Eastern Star, a member of Peace Chapter #98 OES and a former Advisor for Clifton Chapter #16 Order of Rainbow for Girls. He is a member and former Deacon of Allwood Community Church in Clifton, a former Advisor for their Young Adult Group and a former Cubmaster of Cub Pack #22 BSA. Art is predeceased by his wife, the former Mae (Lanzara). He is survived by two daughters, Cheryl Sabatino of Wanaque and Robin Lee Fashauer of Punta Gorda, FL, by a son, Arthur J. Blackinger Jr. "AJ" of Clifton and by three grandchildren, Christine Sabatino, Jillayn and Rebecca Blackinger. Visiting hours will be Sunday 1-5PM at Allwood Funeral Home, 660 Allwood Rd. Clifton, NJ 07012 with Masonic Services at 5 PM. Memorial donations to the Make A Wish Foundation or the David Nicholas Foundation are preferred to flowers.
