WANAQUE — Services were held for Arthur "Mr. B" J. Blackinger, 88, of Clifton, who died on Thursday, January 17, 2013. He was the father of Cheryl Sabatino of this community.
Born in Passaic, Mr. Blackinger lived in Clifton for the past 62 years. He was a contract administrator for Singer Kearfott Corp., Wayne, for 17 years before retiring in 1991. Previously, he worked for ITT, Paramus. More recently, he was a driver for Bond Floats, Clifton. He was a U.S. Army
veteran of World War II
Also, he was a member and past master of the Clifton Masonic Lodge, a past grand chaplain of the NJ Grand Lodge of Masons, and a former dad of the Clifton Chapter Order of De Molay. He was a past patron of Clifton Chapter No. 269 of the Order of the Eastern Star, a member of Peace Chapter 98 of the Order of the Eastern Star, and a former advisor for Clifton Chapter 16 of the Order of Rainbow for Girls. And, he was a member and former deacon of the Allwood Community Church, Clifton, where he was a former advisor for the Young Adult Group and a former cubmaster of Cub Pack 22 of the Boy Scouts of America.
Services were Sunday at the Allwood Funeral Home, Clifton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Make a Wish Foundation or to the David Nicholas Foundation.
Mr. Blackinger also is survived by his other daughter, Robin Lee Fashauer of Punta Gorda, Fla.; his son, Arthur of Clifton; and three grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his wife, the former Mae Lanzara.
