Carmelo Lo Porto

Carmelo "Curly," age 89 of Totowa at rest in Wayne on July 1, 2013. Born in Brooklyn, NY, he lived in Paterson most of his life before moving to Totowa. He was a Laborer for the Passaic County Laborers Union, Local 239, Jersey City for many years before retiring in 1989. Mr. Lo Porto was a parishioner of St. James R.C. Church, Totowa. He was a World War II Army veteran, and received the Purple Heart. He belonged to the American Legion Post #227, Totowa and was an avid WWE Fan. Beloved husband of the late Mary (nee Ferreri) Lo Porto (died 2012). Loving father of Emanuel Lo Porto and his wife, Kathy of Paterson, Thomas Lo Porto and his wife, Elaine of Woodland Park, Robert Lo Porto and his wife, Lynn of Hopatcong, and Phyllis Paventa and her husband, Anthony of Totowa. Devoted grandfather of Nicholas and his wife, Nicole, Vincent, Maryanne, Thomas Jr., Amanda and her husband, Jeff, Carmen, Daniella, and Jessica. Dear great-grandfather of Megan and Ariana. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral from the Festa Memorial Funeral Home, 111 Union Blvd, Totowa, on Wednesday at 10:15 AM. Funeral Mass to follow at St. James R.C. Church, Totowa at 11 AM. Interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Totowa. Friends may visit Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 PM.
