Casmir Serafin



SERAFIN
Casmir, died on Monday, October 22, 2012 at Hackensack University Medical Center.
Born in Garfield, the son of polish immigrants the late Rose and Joseph Serafin. He had resided in Clifton prior to moving to Elmwood Park in 1979. While at Garfield HS, he played the position of "center" as a "leatherhead" for a Garfield Boilermakers national championship team. Until his retirement in 1985 Mr. Serafin was a machinist at Van Vlaanderen Machine Co., Paterson. He faithfully and honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII, in Europe within an armored tank division seeing action in the Battle of the Bulge as an enlisted soldier. He was a member of the Totowa Elks Lodge. Mr. Serafin enjoyed bowling, frequent trips to Atlantic City and spending time with his grandchildren. He was also an avid NY Giants fan.
Loving husband to Amelia (nee DeMarzio) of 51 years as well a devoted father of Valerie Serafin and Vern Trexler; proud grandfather of Alexandra, Thomas (TJ) and Ariana Pierson and brother to the late Stacy Krause and Ted Serafin. Mr Serafin will also be sadly missed by his friends and several nephews.
Funeral Friday 9 AM from the Patrick J. Conte Funeral Home, Inc., 274 Market Street, Elmwood Park. Funeral Mass 10 AM at St. Leo's R.C. Church, Elmwood Park. Interment St. Mary's Cemetery, Saddle Brook. Family and close friends may call from 7 until 9 PM on Thursday.
