Charles W., age 94, of Dumont, NJ, passed away at his residence on Friday, January 4, 2013 surrounded by his loving family. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Dorothy (nee Hayes) on May 31, 2012. Charles will be sadly missed by his loving children, Richard Dietz and his wife, Kimberly, Debi Shaughnessy and her husband, Thomas, and his dear brother, Harry Dietz. A great joy in Charles's life were his five grandchildren, Melissa, Jennifer, Suzanne, Jason, and Justin, and twelve great-grandchildren. He was also predeceased by a sister, Dottie Hancock.
Charles proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, on active duty during World War II
. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, St. John Council #1345, Dumont. He worked for many years as a delivery man for the Sealtest Dairy Company. A self-taught man, he took great pride in his ability to repair anything and enjoyed being a handyman, eager to help anyone who needed his skills.
Funeral Wednesday, January 9, 2013 from the Frech Funeral Home, 161 Washington Ave., Dumont. Funeral Mass 10 AM at St. Mary's R.C Church. Entombment to follow at Garden of Memories, Township of Washington. The family will welcome friends Tuesday, January 8, 2013 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM.
